More notes from recent Union meeting…
Good day Carriers,
Here are some more notes from the most recent Union meeting in no particular order:
– Rich McLehose went to a National Branch Presidents meeting and found out the following
– The NALC has a disaster fund and accepts donations. This helps carriers survive through natural disasters and other tragedies.
– The NALC is setting up a meeting with the USPS to address uptick nationwide of violence against Letter Carriers.
– They talked about work hour violations, and a nationwide problem of curtailing and delaying mail by Management. One Texas office has daily 12-14 routes that don’t even go out to the street.
– Most of local Long Island representatives support the Letter Carrier causes. Everyone should vote. Try and vote.
– The USPS will be trying a mentoring program for CCAs in our area soon. This will be a senior Carrier checking in periodically with a new CCA to see how they are doing. We hope this will increase retention.
– There is a change in Medicare benefits. It will become mandatory for all to join by 2025. More on this soon.
– The Postal Plan for the next ten years keeps getting changed.
– 50,000 electric vehicles coming in 2023.
– A Red Line program has been started by the USPS. It has something to do with cutting down PM time in the office. No one is sure how it works. No communication on it.
See you soon!
