8 Unit Buffer for Clock In
Good day Carriers,
You might have heard Management say that the 8 unit/5 minute clock in buffer of time, for clocking in, has been eliminated, and this was agreed to by the Union.
I’m here to tell you that the above statements are false.
The buffer of time, traditionally for “Congestion at the Time Clock” has not been eliminated. In addition, the NALC Union never agreed to anything about the morning clock in time.
However, since we all use a scanner for clocking in now and we are currently in contract negotiations, this may be something that changes in the new contract. When that is ratified, then it will be in effect.
Of course, try to arrive a little early for your shift anyhow. Try to clock in right at 730am. But if you are a few units/minutes late, you don’t have to worry. Under 8 units/5 minutes can’t be used for discipline, at least not yet.
